Lake Placid's Olympic Flame Cauldron is being lit again to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the 1980 Winter Games held in the Adirondack Mountain village.
The ceremony is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday, February 13th — 35 years to the day from the original opening ceremony.
1980 Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee President Rev. J. Bernard Fell's opening ceremony speech will be the centerpiece of the program.
The 1980 Winter Games were the first to organize an Olympic torch relay, and part of the festivities will include a hand-held torch run from the ice surface of the Olympic Arena to the Flame Tower at the Lake Placid Horseshow grounds.
The torch runners will be comprised of a decorated group of local athletes.
