Credit Card Breach Feared at Vermont Market

Police say between 350 and 450 shoppers at a Williston, Vt., market may have had their credit or debit cards breached in recent weeks.

Natural Provisions Inc. is thought to have suffered the breach earlier this summer, but police say steps have been taken to address the problem.

Richmond Police Chief Alan Buck tells the Burlington Free Press that one bank is reporting possible losses in excess of $100,000. He says Richmond and Williston police are working closely with the U.S. Secret Service on the case. Buck says it's unclear what other losses might be reported as the case evolves.

Natural Provisions president and co-owner, Terry Powers, says the company's taken several security steps to ensure the problem does not repeat.
