WAMC Gives Back During February Fund Drive

WAMC/Northeast Public Radio successfully completed its February Fund Drive on February 7th, raising over $1,000,000 to support the station’s award-winning news and cultural programming. The first drive of the calendar year was remarkably quick due to the generosity of listeners giving many contributions to the Locked Box. The remaining contributions came during one hour of on-air fundraising Monday morning.

Taking precautions for the health and safety of volunteers and staff, WAMC has continued to delay returning to its traditional Fund Drive with volunteers in the studio. Instead, the Locked Box and Fund Drive were completed with the help of WAMC staff, who fielded calls and online donations.

WAMC was honored to partner with The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts to help feed hundreds of families this winter. Also, The Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation joined the station to support the drive while providing shelter to unhoused residents at Joseph’s House in Troy, N.Y.

WAMC President and CEO Alan Chartock says, “I’m constantly amazed at this beautiful community of support for WAMC. No matter what we need to keep going, they are here for us, and we are all together. Thank you, all.”

Joe Donahue, Roundtable Host/Senior Advisor, adds: “I have never been a part of anything like this. It was an avalanche of generosity and compassion and it simply took our breath away. We will forever be grateful!"

WAMC is a listener-supported station that relies on contributions to stay alive. Its Fund Drives primarily occur three times a year: February, June, and October. Each drive has a $1 million goal to support the general operations of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio.
