State Police Investigating New Lead In Student's 2004 Disappearance

New York State Police
Craig Frear

New York State Police are investigating a new lead in the disappearance of a Scotia teenager 17 years ago.

Craig Frear was last seen on June 27, 2004 while leaving a friend’s apartment in the Schenectady County village. A white male with brown hair and brown eyes, Frear was 17 and a junior at Scotia-Glenville High School at the time of his disappearance.

Authorities are now investigating another possible sighting between that day and when he was reported missing to police five days later.

A coworker reportedly believes he saw Frear in the passenger seat of a vehicle stopped at the traffic light at the corner of State Route 50 and Sheffield Road in the Town of Glenville, before the vehicle turned left onto the residential road.

Those with any information are asked to contact the State Police tip line at 1-800-448-3847 or emailing crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
