Police in Albany are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday night on North Lake Avenue.

The Albany Police Department says officers responded to North Lake Avenue and First Street for reports of shots fired and found a 24-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. The man was later pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center.

Later, police received an additional call for another shooting victim at the corner of Quail St. and Clinton Avenue. Authorities believe the male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder in the same incident.

The shooting is the latest in a rash of violence in New York’s capital city. On Friday, Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins said gun crime was up 300 percent over this time last year.
