A man who shot an Albany coach outside a Central Avenue nightclub has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.

Twenty-five-year-old Shaquille Owens was sentenced Friday in Albany County Supreme Court after he pleaded guilty to second degree murder in January.

Owens shot Joseph Davis five times at Club Pheonix at 348 Central Avenue in the early morning hours of September 29th, 2018.

Davis, 42, was an Albany Pop Warner football coach. He was working as a bouncer at the club at the time of the shooting. Two bystanders were also injured in the incident.
