Zephyr Teachout, one of four candidates running in the Democratic primary for New York Attorney General, says battling corruption in state government would be a top priority if she’s elected. In the past few months, several former associates of Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo have been convicted of bribery and bid rigging, and both former legislative leaders were found guilty on corruption charges.

Teachout ran against Governor Cuomo is 2014's gubernatorial race.

Capitol Correspondent Karen DeWitt spoke with Teachout about her proposal to restart the Moreland Commission to fight corruption.

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, New York City Public Advocate Tish James and Leecia Eve are also running as Democrats. The primary is September 13. Keith Wofford is running as a Republican.

Karen DeWitt is Capitol Bureau chief for New York State Public Radio, a network of public radio stations in New York state. She has covered state government and politics for the network since 1990.
