National Museum Of Racing And Hall Of Fame Elects New President

The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs has a new president. WAMC’s Lucas Willard reports the museum’s board has elected a person very familiar to the thoroughbred racing community.

Saratoga Springs’ own John Hendrickson will succeed Gretchen Jackson as the next president of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

Hendrickson is the husband of prominent thoroughbred owner and breeder Marylou Whitney. Whitney was previously married to the late Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, a founder of the museum who served as the organization’s first president.

In a release Hendrickson said the museum “is an important institution with a great history and a bright future.”

Lucas Willard is a news reporter and host at WAMC Northeast Public Radio, which he joined in 2011. He produces and hosts The Best of Our Knowledge and WAMC Listening Party.
