Former Pittsfield Mayoral Candidate Craig Gaetani Sentenced

A former Pittsfield mayoral candidate has been convicted of charges related to breaking into a vehicle and witness intimidation.

The Berkshire Eagle reports Craig Gaetani, a candidate for Pittsfield city council and school committee, was found guilty in Northern Berkshire District Court on Friday.

Gaetani broke into a parked vehicle in June 2016 and took the title from inside, then sold the car. Gaetani then confronted the buyers in a September pre-trial hearing.

Gaetani acted as his own attorney in the trial. He reportedly maintained his innocence and called the charges “political sabotage.”

The newspaper says 69-year-old Gaetani was sentenced to two years in jail, which will be suspended for a period of two-and-a-half years probation.

Information comes from The Berkshire Eagle.
