The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority has announced $4 million in state funding to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in buildings.
NYSERDA announced the funding Wednesday.
The grants are aimed at challenging energy companies to develop, commercialize, and demonstrate new technologies for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
The $4 million is one of four rounds of the total $15 million to advance HVAC systems for buildings.
It’s part of an effort by Governor Andrew Cuomo to decrease energy consumption in buildings by 23 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by the year 2030.
