Mastroianni Bros Bread Makes A Comeback

A beloved Capital Region bakery that closed last year, taking its Italian bread and rolls off supermarket shelves, is back in business.

Mastroianni Bros Bakery, the Schenectady company known for its sliced Italian-style loaves and rolls, has been purchased by a Utica company.

Former Mastroianni Bros CEO and Chief Marketing Officer Warren Zeiser announced Thursday that less than a year after closing, the company has been purchased by Pumilia Pizza Shells.

The Pumilia family was among several bidders on the bakery’s intellectual property, sold at auction in 2016.

Mastroianni products were back on the shelves of Price Chopper supermarkets Thursday as part of a soft launch event.
