Gloversville Hospital Threatens To Lock Out Striking Nurses

twitter

Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville says nurses represented by the New York State Nurses Association planning to strike next week will be locked out. The union that represents 112 nurses at the Fulton County facility is planning a strike to begin September 1st until September 6th.

The hospital says all NYSNA-held RNs will not be allowed on the campus during the strike and that staffing needs will be augmented by nurses through a staffing agency.

Meanwhile, NYSNA says a ruling issued Friday by the National Labor Relations Board Office of Appeals directed the NLRB Regional Director in Buffalo to issue an unfair labor practice against the hospital for unlawfully threatening nurses with a retroactive increase in health benefit co-pays.

NYSNA has filed additional unfair labor practice charges against NLH for threatening to make changes to nurses’ benefits and lock them out for striking.

The hospital filed an Unfair Labor Practice against NYSNA in late July for failure to bargain in good faith.
