Gloversville Healthcare Workers Seek New Contract

Healthcare workers in Gloversville planned to demonstrate Thursday night.

The candlelight vigil held organized by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and members of the New York State Nurses Association comes as contract negotiations with management at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in Fulton County have stretched over two years.

The unions say the hospital's proposals "threaten to compromise the quality and safety of patient care."

In June, ahead of a strike threat, hospital president and CEO Laurence Kelly accused union officials as using "rhetoric pulled from a downstate PR playbook" and attempting to mislead patients.
