U.S. Senator Charles Schumer says Albany's landmark pooch Nipper should be protected.

The New York Democrat says the more than 100-year-old building at 991 Broadway that also serves as a perch for the 28-foot fiberglass RCA dog should be added to the National and state registers of historic places.

Schumer is asking the National Park Service and New York State Historic Preservation to expedite the approval process so tax credits can be used to help revitalize the building into residential and commercial space.
