The pressure is on lawmakers in Washington to pass a long-term transportation funding bill: New York's roads and bridges are in a state of deep disrepair .

New York DOT Commissioner Matthew Driscoll - speaking in Colonie to cap off completion of a 22 million dollar project to replace two Adirondack Northway bridges, didn't mince words

"The infrastructure in New York State is well over 150 years old. And we're not alone."

New York joins several states in line for federal highway improvement funds. Driscoll says it is important the feds pass a fully-funded surface transportation bill.

"Local communities need that federal support. So we're hopeful that that will happen."

Driscoll notes 40 percent of New York's funds come from the federal government.
