Cuomo Proposes $141.6B Budget For 2015-16

Gov. Cuomo

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed a $141.6 billion budget for the upcoming fiscal year, up about $4 billion from the current budget.

The plan unveiled Wednesday to lawmakers will be followed by months of negotiations before the new year starts April 1.

The administration's proposal would increase spending from state and federal operating funds and capital programs by 2.8 percent.

Initiatives include $1.5 billion for upstate economic development, $1.66 billion for property tax relief, $500 million for expanded broadband access, $750 million for Metropolitan Transportation Authority equipment and $1.3 billion for Thruway projects and the new Tappan Zee Bridge.
