DiNapoli Wins Another Term As Comptroller

Democratic New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has won another term as the state's chief financial officer, turning back a challenge from Republican Robert Antonacci.

DiNapoli is a 60-year-old ex-assemblyman from Long Island who was chosen by his colleagues for the post in 2007 after Comptroller Alan Hevesi resigned amid a scandal. DiNapoli won a four-year term in 2010.

The comptroller audits spending by the state and local governments and is the sole trustee of the state's $181 billion public pension fund.

Antonacci is a 49-year-old accountant and lawyer serving his second term as comptroller for Onondaga County.

The little-known Antonacci tried to opt into a state pilot program that can provide public matching public funds for state comptroller candidates, but did not meet a donation threshold.
