A Berkshire County organization that offers resources to immigrants has won a statewide prize for excellence in nonprofit work.
In a packed field of 150 nominees, the Pittsfield-based Berkshire Immigrant Center took home the top honors Monday at the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network’s 2018 Nonprofit Excellence Awards in Boston. Executive Director Brooke Mead says the award confirms the importance of organization’s mission.
“We have seen — since prior to the presidential election — an attempt to create an anti-immigrant environment. And I think that we are seeing that most Americans do not agree with that.”
Mead and Board Chair Rose Ellis accepted the award on behalf of the Center at the State House.
