Suspended Springfield Cop Charged With Multiple Counts Of Child Rape

A suspended Springfield, Massachusetts police officer has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child.

28 year old Daniel Cintron was arraigned in Springfield District Court Friday on eight counts of rape of a child with force, five counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, and five counts of witness intimidation.

He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail.

A Springfield Police Dept. spokesman said an investigation by the department’s Major Crimes Unit led to Cintron’s arrest at his home in the town of Monson Thursday night.

Cintron was suspended without pay from the police department last year after he was indicted on criminal charges for an off-duty incident involving what was described as a violent confrontation with three teenagers outside a shopping mall.

Cintron was hired by the Springfield Police Dept in 2014.
