Nurses File Complaint With National Labor Relations Board

Facebook: Massachusetts Nurses Association

Berkshire Medical Center nurses have filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board.

Berkshire Medical Center’s Executive Committee sent a letter to hospital staff on July 13th asking Massachusetts Nurses Association members to stay on the job – despite the threat of a one-day strike.

The MNA says the internal letter interfered with negotiations between the hospital and its members. BMC disagreed.

BMC has said nurses will not be reinstated for an extra four days after the strike to cover shifts with replacements. Nurses fear their health insurance benefits will stop during that time as well.

BMC’s “best and final” offer for a new contract was overwhelmingly turned down in May. The union called for a limit on the number of patients nurses care for, security improvements, and health insurance guarantees.
