The City of Pittsfield, Massachusetts rolled out a new app for smartphone users to file requests and track the city’s response.
Scott Connor from Pittsfield’s IT Department created the app to make it easier for residents to flag problems that needed fixing around the city. But he says it was also to make the city employees’ jobs easier.
“They would get a lot of calls for certain problems, potholes, street lights, whatever," Connor says. "And now the Mayor’s office can actually look in and actually immediately see and tell the constituent that it’s been submitted, it’s in progress or it’s completed already.”
The app costs the city $8,000 a year and can be accessed on any major smartphone.
