Vermont Republican Governor Phil Scott says his administration is planning to accelerate the release of documents related to a visa program connected to a massive fraud case against the owner and former president of the Jay Peak ski resort.
Governor Scott says it's the largest alleged fraud cases in Vermont's history and of significant public interest. He also wants to ensure their release does not jeopardize the state's and federal government's legal cases.

Ariel Quiros and Bill Stenger were accused of misusing $200 million raised from foreign investors. Stenger has settled with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Quiros' lawyers have said he'll be cleared of wrongdoing.

Scott says the state will file court motions for public release of documents it discloses to defense attorneys as part of its civil enforcement case. Discovery for that case is expected to start by late spring.
