The Vermont Legislature will decide who will become the state's next lieutenant governor.
On Tuesday the Secretary of State's office released the official canvas of the Election Day vote. It showed Progressive Democrat David Zuckerman received 49.85 percent, just under the 50 percent required by the state constitution to win outright.
Zuckerman's Republican opponent, Randy Brock, received just under 43.5 percent of the vote. Brock has conceded the race.
Under Vermont law if the winner receives less than 50 percent plus one vote, the race is decided by the Legislature.
One of the first actions of the new Legislature in January will be to vote on the issue. The body has a long history of voting for the top vote getter, in this case Zuckerman.
