Congressman Richard Neal says he has been part of widespread opposition to a pipeline expansion project in southwestern Massachusetts that is currently on hold.Speaking in Great Barrington Monday, the Democrat says the federally-approved Connecticut Expansion Project could not have been more vigorously opposed by the region’s Congressional delegation.
“I think Kinder Morgan handled it very badly,” Neal said. “I don’t think there is much question of that. I think there was a time when perhaps a compromise might have been reached, but I think that is very unlikely now.”
The project would cut through Otis State Forest which is protected under the state constitution. Outstanding permits and a stay from a Berkshire Superior Court judge are delaying work.
