State officials are moving ahead with funding the first block of projects under Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy's proposed transportation overhaul. The State Bond Commission on Tuesday approved nearly $25 million worth of projects outlined in a five-year ramp-up initiative known as the "Let's Go CT!"

It's the precursor to Malloy's proposed 30-year, $100 billion overhaul of the state’s transportation system.

“Connecticut’s economic future and our ability to grow jobs are tied directly to the condition of our roads, bridges, ports, buses, and rails… even to our walkways and bikeways,” said Malloy during his 2015 budget address in February.

The list of initiatives that received funding include design and engineering work to widen parts of interstate 84; implementation of real-time location and bus information across the state; and a study of extending the rapid bus system — CTfastrack — to Manchester.

Also, $1 million was approved to design and engineer an elevated Route 8/I-84 interchange in Waterbury.
