Facebook: Williams College

The campus safety director at Williams College says the school was not a target for the terror suspect federal authorities arrested 10 miles away in Adams, Massachusetts on July 4th. Authorities believe the targeted school was outside of Massachusetts.Federal authorities say 23-year-old Alexander Ciccolo planned to use pressure cooker bombs and other weapons to kill people on a college campus before July 31st. On Wednesday, Campus Safety Director Dave Boyer said neither Williams College nor any college in its vicinity were targeted.

“When I use the word ‘vicinity’ I’m really thinking out of this immediate area,” Boyer said. “I have no knowledge that MCLA was ever part of this plot.”

A member of the Western Massachusetts Terrorism Task Force’s executive committee, Boyer says he was briefed on Ciccolo about three or four months ago. Boyer says which school was targeted will come out fairly soon.

Boyer says there are roughly 400 students on the Williams campus in the summer.
