Connecticut Police say 71 drivers have been issued $92 tickets for defying the state's travel ban during the winter storm. The New Haven Register reports State Police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance says there were more than 71 stops, but troopers used discretion in issuing tickets. Doctors, for example, were not ticketed. Malloy thanked people for obeying the ban.

“I’m certainly and I know the lieutenant governor is very gratified at the support that we’ve gotten on this from the people of Connecticut,” Malloy said Tuesday afternoon when announcing the ban would be lifted.

Before the ban more than 100 accidents were reported on state highways. It dropped to 17 after the ban.
