Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island have or are lifting statewide travel bans after a storm dumped nearly 3 feet in parts of the region. Rhode Island’s expires at 8 p.m. Tuesday, will Massachusetts’ ban will be lifted at midnight.Once Wednesday rolls around, the travel ban will be lifted in Massachusetts, the last of the four states to do so. Areas in central and eastern Massachusetts faced nearly three feet of snow, wind gusts up to 70 mph and coastal flooding. Governor Charlie Baker called it a historic event.

“I’m pleased to say that with a ton of work over the course of the past day and a half, we have a pretty good handle on what’s going on out there,” Baker said Tuesday afternoon.

Many parking bans remain in effect so municipalities can clear roads and parking lots.
