Protests are planned at Walmarts around the country this Black Friday calling on the company to increase worker pay.On the busiest shopping day of the year at one of America’s largest stores, ‘standouts’ are planned across the country urging Wal-Mart to improve worker pay and treatment. Frank Farkas is with the Berkshire Brigades, the county’s Democratic wing.

“We’re saying that Wal-Mart has to step up to the plate and start paying $15 an hour,” Farkas said. “They can certainly afford it.”

A standout at the Walmart in Pittsfield is set for noon Friday. Another will be held at 1 o’clock at the store in North Adams.
