New Adams Town Administrator: 'A Local Government Guy Through And Through'

Tony Mazzucco

The Berkshire County town of Adams has selected its next administrator. Thirty-year-old Tony Mazzucco will fill the position vacated by Jonathan Butler this summer. Butler, 33, served for five years in the post and is now the president of the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce. For the past two years, Mazzucco has been the assistant city manager in Caribou, Maine after working in local government in Vermont and Massachusetts. WAMC’s Berkshire Bureau Chief Jim Levulis spoke with the Randolph, Massachusetts native about his new job and Adams – a town that has been attempting to establish itself as an outdoor recreational tourist destination at the base of Mt. Greylock, the state’s highest point.

Set to be officially appointed December 3rd, Mazzucco is expected to start January 12th.

Jim was WAMC’s Assistant News Director and hosted WAMC's flagship news programs: Midday Magazine, Northeast Report and Northeast Report Late Edition.
