Stockbridge Selectmen Approve Mansion Resort Project

wikipedia.org

Selectmen in the town of Stockbridge, Mass. have given the go-ahead to developers looking to build a resort using a 19th century mansion.More than 100 people filled the gym at the Stockbridge town offices Monday night for a nearly three-hour public hearing, according to The Berkshire Eagle.

A subsidiary of Denver-based real estate company Amstar is planning to preserve the 1886 Elm Court mansion by building a connected 96-room addition, opening a 60-seat restaurant and building a 15,500-square foot spa. Despite residents’ concerns over increased traffic, the three-member Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the company’s plans.

But, because the entrance to the 90-acre property is in Lenox, that town must also consider a special permit before work begins.
