An Ohio man charged with killing his wife almost two decades ago and leaving her body in a remote area of western Massachusetts has been held without bail.A not guilty plea to a murder charge was entered on behalf of 70-year-old Robert Honsch at his arraignment Monday in Westfield District Court.
The body of 53-year-old Marcia Honsch was found in October 1995 near an entrance to Tolland State Forest. She had been shot in the head.
At about the same time, his daughter, 17-year-old Elizabeth Honsch, was found dead behind a New Britain, Connecticut, strip mall.
The family lived in New York at the time.
Robert Honsch was arrested in July living in Ohio under an assumed name. He told a judge there he had a wife, three children and no job.
“We are close to, like two steps from, being almost destitute," Honsch said when a judge questioned him to determine if he needed a court-appointed attorney.
Honsch’s court-appointed lawyers did not argue for bail.
