VT Governor Urges Health Connect Sign Up By Dec. 23

Governor Peter Shumlin is encouraging people who are eligible to sign up for health insurance through the Vermont Health Connect system.

Governor Shumlin says Dec. 23 is the deadline for people to sign up if they want to receive a federal subsidy and coverage starting on Jan. 1.

At the Statehouse on Thursday, Shumlin said about 45,000 of the 65,000 people who the state estimates qualify for health insurance coverage through the federally mandated health insurance changes have signed up.

And more than 5,000 people have signed up since Monday.

The governor and others are publicizing the fast-approaching deadline as part of an effort to ensure no one loses coverage on Jan. 1.
