VT Says 3,138 Picked Health Insurance Via Website

The state says that 3,138 people have chosen a new health insurance plan through the Vermont Health Connect website.

The state released a series of raw numbers Tuesday about the use of the website, which has been plagued with troubles since it first went public on Oct. 1.

Vermont Health Connect says that 13,537 people have created accounts on its website and the site has had more than 130,000 unique visitors.

Because of problems with the website, the state has agreed to allow people with existing health insurance policies to extend them through March 31.

Governor Peter Shumlin says the website is improving every day, but he doesn't know when it will be working properly.
