Officials Offer Update on Vermont Health Connect

Officials involved in setting up Vermont's new health care exchange say they're confident it will be ready to enroll individuals and small businesses by its scheduled Oct. 1 startup date.

Commissioner Mark Larson of the Department of Vermont Health Access joined other top Shumlin administration officials at a news conference Thursday to say signs are positive as they close in on two months before Vermont Health Connect begins operations.

Officials also spoke about the findings of an independent review of the state's expected expenditure of more than $427 million in state and federal funds on computer and network technology and support in the first five years.

The report identified several challenges, which Larson says either have been resolved or will be by Oct. 1.
