Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan announced a new policy resulting from the COVID-19 crisis.

During a Facebook town hall this week, Democratic County Executive Ryan said several town supervisors have expressed concern about the upcoming season and concentration of people and shared facilities at campgrounds, seasonal resorts, children’s camps and bungalow colonies.

“I’ve directed Health Commissioner Dr. Carol Smith to put out a letter to all those facilities which are licensed through our health department that we will not be issuing any permits, at least for now, until the situation changes, for those types of facilities,” Ryan says.

Ryan also called for a county-wide rent freeze after his office heard reports of some landlords trying to raise rents.
