Grants from New York state have been awarded for three projects in Westchester County to enhance access to the lower Hudson River.
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced this week that $750,000 was awarded to help the villages of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown increase storm resiliency and improve recreational access to the Hudson. The funding is from a 2010 settlement with General Motors over contaminants from the Tarrytown Assembly Plant. One grant is for Historic Hudson Valley to improve storm resiliency and river access at Philipsburg Manor. The second grant is for Sleepy Hollow to restore the riverside trail on the former GM site. And a third grant is for Tarrytown to stabilize the Hudson River shoreline of Losee Park.
