A Monmouth University poll released Tuesday shows the Democratic candidate in the race for New York’s 19th Congressional District leading by a wider margin since a September poll.

The Monmouth poll shows Antonio Delgado leading freshman Republican Congressman John Faso 49 percent to 44 percent. Delgado held a 1-point lead in a Monmouth poll from September. Monmouth’s latest poll reveals that Delgado has a 54 percent to 38 percent advantage among female voters, and has made gains east of the Hudson River. Faso’s strongest area is the western part of the district, where he holds a 51 percent to 43 percent lead over Delgado. Meantime, a Siena College/Spectrum News poll from earlier in October has Faso leading Delgado by one point.
