Race For Latimer's NY Senate Seat Is Set

The race is set for a New York state Senate seat left vacant since January 1, when Democrat George Latimer took office as Westchester County Executive.

The Westchester County Republican Committee nominated former Rye City Councilwoman and Deputy Mayor Julie Killian to run for Latimer’s 37th District seat. It’s Killian’s second time running for the seat after losing to Latimer in 2016. In January, Westchester Democrats nominated Yonkers state Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer as their candidate. Killian and Mayer will face off in a special election April 24, when elections will be held for one other Senate seat and nine vacant Assembly seats.
