There is a public meeting Monday night in Newburgh on the PFOS water issue.
New York state Department of Health officials will discuss the PFOS blood testing program while state Department of Environmental Conservation officials will provide an update to their efforts to ensure clean drinking water in the city. The PFOS blood testing program began in November. This will be the sixth community meeting on PFOS in Newburgh since PFOS contamination was revealed in May of last year. City Manager Michael Ciaravino says it is important for Newburgh residents to know that their drinking water is free of PFOS and safe to drink. However, he says more needs to be done to ensure that city water is safe for generations to come. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church on Fullerton Avenue.
