The first two affordable housing projects under a New York storm program to help communities affected by Superstorm Sandy are in the lower Hudson Valley.

Governor Andrew Cuomo Thursday said the first two projects under the state’s $30 million Small Project Affordable Rental Construction program are in Rockland County. With 40 apartments combined in the three-story buildings, Clarkstown Seniors Phases I & II will offer affordable housing to low-income seniors aged 55 and older. Cuomo launched the program to provide housing and economic opportunity for low- to moderate-income New Yorkers in communities affected by Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
