Kingston Establishes Amnesty Period For Parking Citations

Kingston’s mayor says there will be an amnesty period for parking citations.  He’s hoping those who participate also will donate food for local pantries. WAMC’s Allison Dunne has more.

Mayor Steve Noble says the parking citation amnesty period in Kingston will take place from December 15 through December 30. The intent is to attract people with parking tickets issued earlier than December 1 and who therefore owe a late penalty. The late penalty will be waived if the citation is paid during this time. And, modeled after other communities’ “Food for Fines” programs, Noble is asking those participating in the amnesty period to consider bringing in non-perishable food items to be distributed to local food pantries this winter. This food contribution is not required to participate in the amnesty program.
