NYC Officials Are Subpoenaed Amid Campaign Finance Probe

New York City officials have been subpoenaed by local and federal prosecutors amid an investigation into the mayor's campaign fundraising operation.

Maya Wiley, counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio, said in a statement Wednesday that City Hall had been subpoenaed by both the Manhattan district attorney and the U.S. attorney in Manhattan. She said de Blasio had not been "personally served." The statement didn't reveal the subject or recipients of the subpoenas. The top investigator at the state's Board of Elections asked prosecutors in January to investigate whether the mayor's advisers broke the law by channeling campaign contributions to Democratic senate candidates through a committee not subject to donation limits. De Blasio, a Democrat, has not been accused of any crime. A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office declined comment.
