Florida Woman Admits Killing Mother-In-Law In Rockland

A woman from Florida has admitted in court that she killed her 80-year-old mother-in-law in New York’s Hudson Valley.

The Rockland County district attorney says Diana Nadell of Cutler Bay, Florida, pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder in exchange for a 23-year sentence. She also admitted plotting to kill two witnesses. The mother-in-law, Peggy Nadell, had been a county Democratic committeewoman. She was a community activist, speaking out on environmental and women's rights issues. Prosecutors said Diana Nadell and an accomplice lured Peggy Nadell to the front door of her Valley Cottage home with a late-night phone call in January 2014, then killed her. They said the daughter-in-law wanted access to her husband's share of Peggy Nadell's multimillion-dollar estate. The husband has not been charged. Three other women previously pleaded guilty in the case.
