Renovations are complete for a disabled veteran’s house in Dutchess County. The work of a state senator and national program made it possible and there will be a ceremony later Saturday morning. Republican state Senator Greg Ball and Purple Heart Homes will host a welcome-home ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. for Private Dan Flanigan’s renovated house in Pawling.

The ceremony will kick off with a parade from the Pawling IGA supermarket to Flanigan’s 101 year-old home. Flanigan, a Vietnam veteran, inherited his parent’s Pawling home in 1999, which was in disrepair.

Flanigan was selected for a complete home remodeling by North Carolina-based Purple Heart Homes, a non-profit organization that provides housing solutions for disabled veterans.
