Proposed Casino For Town of Newburgh Includes City In Revenues

Saratoga Casino and Raceway

There will be two special meetings Wednesday evening in Orange County pertaining to casino resolutions. The first one gets underway at 6.

The Newburgh Town Board will hold a special meeting to finalize the memorandum of understanding between the City of Newburgh and the Town of Newburgh in reference to Saratoga Casino and Raceway’s proposed Hudson Valley Casino & Resort. The meeting’s purpose is to approve a resolution declaring that if Saratoga Casino constructs a casino in the Town of Newburgh, the town will share 15 percent of the host fee with the city. These funds are to be used only for law enforcement and public safety. Immediately following, around 7 p.m., the Newburgh City Council will hold a special meeting at City Hall to vote on the same as well as on a resolution of support for the proposed casino resort. The City Council will also vote on a resolution for the casino to make an annual unrestricted contribution to the city equal to 15 percent of the host community fee paid to the town.
