Nevele CEO Returns

The CEO of the company proposing the only casino resort for Ulster County is back in the position three weeks after he stepped aside. He had left after a newspaper story resurrected details of an assault case.

Nevele Investors CEO Michael Treanor May 1 had been asked to step aside, hours after a New York Post article reported that Treanor has been accused of sexually assaulting his sister in 2007. The Post reported that Treanor pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault. Now, Claremont Partners Director David Runciman, in a statement, says, in part, quote, “Having completed a review, we have concluded, as have regulators in the past, that Michael’s character and fitness are unimpeachable, and that certain recent articles were part of a smear campaign targeting Ulster County’s Nevele project.” End quote. Claremont is the parent company of Nevele Investors. Treanor will resume day-to-day operations of the entity that is seeking a casino license for the Nevele Resort, Casino & Spa in Wawarsing.
