A Few Party Lines Are Up For Grabs For Rockland Candidates

In one Hudson Valley county, it’s a busy primary day for candidates seeking the county executive post.

In a Democratic primary race that began with four potential candidates, the race was narrowed to two - county legislator Ilan Schoenberger and former county legislator and Spring Valley justice David Fried. Fried has the endorsements of two previous employers – former President Bill Clinton and Congresswoman Nita Lowey. Schoenberger has the Working Families and Independence Party lines. Village of Suffern Mayor Dagan LaCorte, on a third ruling, was kept off the ballot. Simon Leschinsky and Thomas Sullivan are vying for the Conservative lines. County legislator Ed Day is on the Republican line. If a Democrat were to win in November it would be Rockland’s first in 20 years. Republican County Executive Scott Vanderhoef is not seeking a sixth term.
