A county in the Hudson Valley is about to put its first hybrid buses into service.

Fifteen new hybrid diesel electric buses that have been acquired through Federal Transit Administration funding will hit the roads this summer in the areas of Newburgh, Middletown, Kiryas Joel, and the town of Warwick. Orange County Executive Edward Diana, Planning Commissioner David Church, representatives from municipalities receiving new hybrid buses, and others will host what they’re calling an “open bus” event this afternoon in Goshen, during which they will unveil one of the new energy-efficient buses. The buses will be the first of their kind in Orange County used for public transit.
