A U.S. senator and two congressional representatives from New York will be in the Hudson Valley later today to announce plans to harness the economic development, recreation, and tourism potential of the area.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congresswoman Nita Lowey, and Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney will talk about their effort, including through legislation, to extend the Hudson River Valley National Heritage designation for another 10 years. The Democrats say doing so will allow for the continued promoting of recreation and tourism in the Hudson Valley. Plus they say additional federal funding could be leveraged for projects in the area. The three will be on hand this afternoon in Putnam County, at Boscobel House and Gardens in Garrison, to announce their plans, along with the acting executive director of the Hudson River Valley Greenway and Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area.
